As ISC West Goes, So Goes The Industry

ISC West, the first major security show of 2010, opens next week in Las Vegas, and the security industry awaits with bated optimism.

With the economy showing promising signs of a rebound, and Gartner predicting that security spending will rise to 5.1 percent this year, what happens at ISC West will indicate the direction of the industry. No doubt exhibitors are shining up their new products while attendees, with their budget purse strings loosened, are anxiously waiting to see what’s new in the industry.

Show data from 2009 demonstrates that nearly half of ISC West buyers do not attend any other major security event, and attendees say it is the best place to discover new products and trends.

In fact, 95 percent of attendees come to the show to see new products. Ninety percent of attendees are involved in the purchasing process for their organization, and 68 percent of buyers have an annual budget of $100,000 or more for purchasing security products; 23 percent have a budget of more than $1 million.

As a testament to all that ISC West has to offer, the show has been recognized by Tradeshow Week as one of the “Fastest 50” growing tradeshows in North America for the seventh consecutive year.

The “Fastest 50” winners are selected based on their growth in net square footage over the previous three years (2006 to 2008). The judging team is comprised of the editorial and research staff at Tradeshow Week.

Co-located with ISC West, the Public Security & Safety Expo targets manufacturers of products designed to protect, secure and identify potential risks and breaches of homeland, municipalities, infrastructure and public spaces. Local, state and federal government personnel and buyers for institutions and educational facilities will participate in meetings with manufacturers in the PSS Theatre.

This year, the expo also will offer complimentary conference sessions at the PSS Theater.

Sessions include “Securing Today’s Airports Part 1: The Operator’s Perspective,” “Securing Today’s Airports Part 2: The Manufacturer’s Perspective,” “Securing Open Spaces, Part 1: A View from London,” “Securing Open Spaces, Part 2: Campus Safety & Stadium Security” and “Best Practices for the Installation of CCTV Recording Systems.”

Our flight and hotel are booked, and the editorial team at Security Products looks forward to a great show at ISC West. See you there!
